Can you put vicks vapor rub infront of a fan to help you breathe?

i have bronchitis I think and i just thought of the idea of putting an open container of vicks vapor rub infront of my desk fan I use to cool me off. Will it hurt me if I leave it there to let the smell go through the room all night? its not going on my chest.
