Is Gatsby the Villain or "bad-guy"?

Do you think that Jay Gatsby could be the villain in The Great Gatsby since he was able to manipulate everyone into thinking he was better than he really was? He got his money illegally by selling bonds and other methods as well as trying to steal Tom's wife. Would that make him more of a "bad guy" than everyone else?
