Down to earth versus romantic - which is better?

My family operated like a war zone. My parents argued and fought all the time, threw dishes and pots and pans, even threatened with a butcher knife. They both cheated. I never saw love. I did not know how to feel it or to express it. I met a very sweet woman in college who came from a very loving and expressive family. This woman taught me how to love and was very patient while I learned. It is possible that your husband never learned from his family either.
